Guest Speaker: Aimen Jaffery

Ms. Jafri is a distinguished leader in the multicultural sector, combining her lived experience of migration with a deep commitment to creating better opportunities for new migrants in Tasmania. She works within the settlement sector, centring on program delivery and evaluation. Recognised for her significant contributions, Aimen has been honoured with the Awards Australia Tasmanian Community Achievement Award twice, in 2024 and 2021.
Aimen has played a pivotal role in various organisations dedicated to supporting people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, with a steady focus on empowering and educating victims of domestic violence.
She is the immediate past Chair of the Multicultural Council of Tasmania (MCOT) and a Director of the Federation of Ethnic Communities Council of Australia (FECCA). Additionally, she co-founded the Arab Council of Tasmania (ACT), an organisation established to support the Arab communities of Tasmania and serves on the board of the Lutruwita Arts Orchestra (LAO).
Aimen’s dedication to volunteerism is evident through her significant contributions to Tasmanian communities, earning her the Glenorchy City Council Local Hero Award for 2024 and Volunteer of the Year 2024 by Hobart City Council. Her passion for promoting diversity and inclusion has empowered migrant communities by advocating for employment opportunities, organising cultural events, and facilitating educational programs.
Aimen holds a master’s degree in business administration, as well as an AICD qualification. She is a respected community leader, seen as a role model to many migrants, and is deeply passionate about women’s participation in sports and cultural activities

This Expo is delivered by A Fairer World, the only training provider in lutruwita/Tasmania with lived experience advocates, across all areas of discrimination. We provide training one story at a time. This project/activity is funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services
