Our organisation is powered by a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and “human books,” who are essential to our mission of promoting diversity and inclusion. Our staff bring expertise and passion to every project, ensuring high-quality programs and support. Our volunteers generously contribute their time and skills, helping us reach more people and create a broader impact. Our “human books,” individuals who share their personal stories, are at the heart of our initiatives, fostering empathy and understanding in schools, workplaces, and communities. We couldn’t achieve our goals without their unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions.
Our Staff
Jodie is an experienced educator with a strong passion for social justice. She was selected as Educational Leader for her significant skills in project and people leadership. Jodie’s experience in the conception, design and realisation of innovative programs. Jodie’s program credits include Let’s Get Together & the Just One… program delivered through A Fairer World.
Caitlin has been with A Fairer World since 2020 and plays a key role in keeping things running smoothly. She manages our finances, IT systems, and day-to-day operations.
With a degree in Information Technology, Caitlin provides IT support, maintains our website, and contributes to social media and design. She also ensures the office runs efficiently and supports the team with systems and logistics. She also doubles as our audio technician at events.
Gabrielle comes to A Fairer World with a head, and a heart for social justice, nurtured from her early years at Amnesty International. Drawing on her current studies in creative writing, Gabrielle brings with her a diversity of lived experience and formal tertiary qualifications to her role. Gabe manages the Hobart human library & the workplace Diversity & Inclusion and Unconscious Bias training.

Aster has been a human ‘book’ in the Hobart Human Library since 2014 and joined the staff in 2023, they have worked in schools as an Aboriginal Education Worker and as a library technician. Being Trans masc, Autistic and Aboriginal they are very passionate about education and human rights.
Quynh joined our team in 2024. Her role is maintaining a clean and safe office environment for all staff, volunteers and visitors.
Zelah joined A Fairer World in late 2025, bringing over 20 years of international experience to foster positive social change and promote inclusivity in education.
With a passion for equity, she has volunteered globally, advocating for human rights and social justice in underdeveloped communities.
She believes education is a powerful tool for empowerment, dedicated to building a fairer, more inclusive world.
Management Committee
Samantha Stayner is a highly experienced broadcast media professional with 25 years in live radio and audio production. With a deep passion for storytelling, she understands the power of media to connect, inform, and inspire. In addition to her media career, she has dedicated over six years as a volunteer trustee for the ABC Giving Tree, using her expertise to support charitable initiatives and drive positive community impact.
A certified community director, Samantha is committed to social justice, meaningful community engagement, and fostering inclusive conversations through storytelling. Originally from the Melbourne suburbs, she has embraced Tasmania as home and is driven to contribute to the local community in meaningful ways.
Beyond her work and involvement with A Fairer World, Samantha enjoys Tasmania’s stunning outdoors—whether trail running, camping, or exploring nature. She also cherishes time with her family and their two mischievous cats.
Meahd has been a valued member of A Fairer World, bringing her extensive expertise in marketing and media to enhance the organisation’s impact. With a strong background in strategic communications, she has played a key role in shaping messaging, outreach, and engagement efforts.
As the former media lead at the Port Arthur Historic Site, Meahd managed high-profile campaigns, public relations, and storytelling initiatives that preserved and shared Tasmania’s rich history. She has also contributed her skills to Dunalley Tasman Neighbourhood House, supporting community-driven projects and strengthening local connections through effective communication strategies.
Passionate about using media to drive social change, Meahd is committed to fostering inclusive narratives and amplifying diverse voices. Her work reflects a deep dedication to community engagement, ensuring that important stories are told and heard in meaningful ways.
Herman Yap is a chartered accountant with a Master of Professional Accounting. Herman brings to the committee deep experience in managing complex reconciliations, statutory obligations and ensures financial data supports strategic decisions. He is committed to supporting financial sustainability and accountability in pursuit of social equity and impact.
Sarah is the sol elegal counsel for Procreate, a globally successful software company, where she applies her broad legal expertise across privacy, cybersecurity, employment, and contract law. With a strong background in governance and committee leadership, she brings a wealth of experience in navigating complex legal and regulatory landscapes.
Passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion, Sarah is dedicated to fostering safe and equitable spaces in education and the workplace. She actively advocates for gender equality, LGBTQIA+ rights and wellbeing, neurodiversity, and disability inclusion—issues that are deeply personal to her.
Beyond her professional and advocacy work, Sarah enjoys exploring the outdoors through hiking, capturing moments through photography, and immersing herself in books. She treasures time with her family and her lively menagerie of pets, embracing the balance between her career, advocacy, and personal passions.
