Hobart Human Library at GHD Group

Human ‘books’ Josh, Aster and John shared their lived experience stories recently at GHD Group, challenging stereotypes and breaking down barriers that exclude. Story telling has long been used as a way to connect and educate. At A Fairer World we co-deliver diversity and inclusion training, promoting social justice with our Human ‘books’. Just like a traditional library, except as real humans we can engage and keep the dialogue open.

Feedback was well received with 96% of participants vowing will include other more after the workshop.
Some feedback included:

“The value of being understood as an authentic version of yourself. And as Josh says there is an economic/productivity argument for that. Thank you for highlighting”

“I learnt how important it is to openly and actively listen to others and create a safe environment for others to feel comfortable to do so.”

“Learned more about gender identity and I loved John’s summary about spaces/people making him disabled/that he is not disabled”
