Student Voices Racial Inclusion Showcase was a genuine dialogue and connection that took where students from Montrose Bay High School and Cosgrove High School presented their projects on ‘Racism’ to representatives from across the education sector and government agencies.

A Fairer World was also invited as a guest to hear these remarkable stories and ideas that were very inspiring.

This platform provided the students to be heard and valued. Many spoke afterwards about how meaningful it was to have community leaders, councils, organisations, and advocates listening to their ideas and asking thoughtful, respectful questions around ‘Racism’.

Our presence and support along with other organisations, showed our young people that their voices matter. It also helps strengthen the bridge between schools and community.

It’s a great reminder to our students that they are part of something larger, something hopeful.

Following this event, we were advised that students taking part in this presentation, requested an immediate meeting to continue refining their projects and to quote one of the coordinating teachers, “the students are pumped!”

The vital message of the event remains strong in that, students leading the conversation, with our community standing beside them.
