An exciting new program funded by the Tasmanian Community Fund called Diversity Matters Everyone Matters is being rolled out in Department for Education, Children and Young People schools in the Derwent Valley.

It is being delivered by the team at A Fairer World.

Molesworth Primary and Glenora District School have recently completed the 4-week program and Westerway Primary School is looking forward to the program starting soon.

Students from both schools have been learning about how stereotyping people can cause harm and can lead to discrimination. They have also been practising ways to be more inclusive. This could be as simple as respecting the diversity amongst them and smiling and saying hello to someone who seems different to them.

“It is important to include people so that people don’t hide their true identity” Student Glenora District School

“Ask someone if they are ok and let them join in – it doesn’t matter if they are different” Student Molesworth Primary school.

Jodie Epper Educational Leader from A Fairer World is “very pleased about the conversations that are happening in the program” and is “thrilled at the work the students are completing”

Both schools have completed hard copy books and eBooks.

Glenora District School will have their celebration event on Tuesday 14th April and Westerway Primary School commences the program Monday 27th July.
