It’s not every day a new human ‘book’ from the Hobart human library tells their story for the first time but recently one of our newly graduated human ‘books’ told their story about racism, belonging and being different at Rosetta Primary School. It takes a lot of courage, training, and preparation to tell your story of discrimination in public and Vandhana felt happy after telling her story, realising how much impact she can have through her storytelling.
After the session students said, “Be nice to people no matter what race, gender or where they come from” and another said “Don’t treat others different because of their skin colour”
Teachers said “This was an excellent experience from pre planning to the actual experience – well done!” and “an excellent way to introduce the students to the idea of inclusion”
Inclusion Forums funded by Department for Education, Children and Young People, delivered by A Fairer World, and are designed to teach students and teachers about inclusion and diversity through the power of storytelling.
