Our organisation is powered by a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and “human books,” who are essential to our mission of promoting diversity and inclusion. Our staff bring expertise and passion to every project, ensuring high-quality programs and support. Our volunteers generously contribute their time and skills, helping us reach more people and create a broader impact. Our “human books,” individuals who share their personal stories, are at the heart of our initiatives, fostering empathy and understanding in schools, workplaces, and communities. We couldn’t achieve our goals without their unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions.
Our Staff
Gabrielle comes to A Fairer World with a head, and a heart for social justice, nurtured from her early years at Amnesty International. Drawing on her current studies in creative writing, Gabrielle brings with her a diversity of lived experience and formal tertiary qualifications to her role. Gabe manages the Hobart Human Library & the workplace Diversity & Inclusion and Unconscious Bias training.
Jodie is an experienced educator with a strong passion for social justice. She was selected as Educational Leader for her significant skills in project and people leadership. Jodie’s experience in the conception, design and realisation of innovative programs. Jodie’s program credits include Let’s Get Together & the Just One… program delivered through A Fairer World.
Caitlin has been with A Fairer World since 2020 and plays a key role in keeping things running smoothly. She manages our finances, IT systems, and day-to-day operations.
With a degree in Information Technology, Caitlin provides IT support, maintains our website, and contributes to social media and design. She also ensures the office runs efficiently and supports the team with systems and logistics. She also doubles as our audio technician at events.
Aster has been a human ‘book’ in the Hobart Human Library since 2014 and joined the staff in 2023, they have worked in schools as an Aboriginal Education Worker and as a library technician. Being Trans masc, Autistic and Aboriginal they are very passionate about education and human rights.
Quynh joined our team in 2024. Her role is maintaining a clean and safe office environment for all staff, volunteers and visitors.
Management Committee
Suzanne has over 13 years’ experience in community development and is currently responsible for community planning and development across a range of health and wellbeing activities at Clarence City Council. Suzanne has implemented a range of initiatives, including One Community Together, Fitness in the Park, Live Clarence, My Wellbeing Kit, World Games Day and the Clarence Christmas Brunch. She has also co-authored and supported a number of research and evaluation projects, including the Tasmanian Food Access Research Coalition Research Project, Anticipatory Care Research Project and My Wellbeing Kit. Suzanne has over 25 years’ experience with community groups.
Samantha Sullivan is the Vice President of A Fairer World, bringing a decade of experience in the community services sector. She currently works as the Business Development and Client Engagement Manager at Multicap Tasmania, where she is passionate about creating opportunities that empower people with disabilities to achieve their goals. With expertise in service delivery, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, marketing, and strategic planning, she is dedicated to driving meaningful change.
Beyond her professional role, Samantha has been actively involved in governance for over 15 years, serving on various boards, including Acting Chair of Tasmanian Women in Agriculture, Just Like Jack, Midlands Agricultural Association, and is currently on the board for Riding for the Disabled Tasmania. Her unwavering commitment to equity, inclusion, and social impact aligns deeply with the mission of A Fairer World. She is proud to contribute her skills and experience to support this incredible organization in creating a more just and inclusive society for all.
Emma is a dedicated Secretary and Committee Member at A Fairer World Inc., bringing over eight years of experience in organisational development and change. She has worked extensively with businesses and community organisations to design, implement, and execute strategies that foster inclusive workplace cultures, enhance diversity, and promote lifelong learning.
With experience in adult education and cultural transformation, Emma is committed to building capacity within communities to embrace diversity and drive meaningful inclusion. Her work spans policy development, strategic planning, and program delivery, ensuring organisations not only recognise the value of diversity but actively integrate it into their structures and practices.
Outside of her role at A Fairer World, Emma enjoys running, spending time outdoors, and making memories with her partner, child, and beloved fur children. She is passionate about creating spaces—both professionally and personally—where everyone feels valued, included, and empowered to thrive.
Wendy is a Fellow Professional National Accountant and has worked in a number of accounting and management roles, including as Operations Manager at Asthma Foundation Tasmania. She came to A Fairer World through her involvement with Soroptimist International of Hobart. Soroptimist International is a global volunteer movement working together to transform the lives of women and girls. Soroptimist groups work at a local, national and international level to educate, empower and enable opportunities for women and girls.
Samantha Stayner is a highly experienced broadcast media professional with 25 years in live radio and audio production. With a deep passion for storytelling, she understands the power of media to connect, inform, and inspire. In addition to her media career, she has dedicated over six years as a volunteer trustee for the ABC Giving Tree, using her expertise to support charitable initiatives and drive positive community impact.
A certified community director, Samantha is committed to social justice, meaningful community engagement, and fostering inclusive conversations through storytelling. Originally from the Melbourne suburbs, she has embraced Tasmania as home and is driven to contribute to the local community in meaningful ways.
Beyond her work and involvement with A Fairer World, Samantha enjoys Tasmania’s stunning outdoors—whether trail running, camping, or exploring nature. She also cherishes time with her family and their two mischievous cats.
Sarah is the sole legal counsel for Procreate, a globally successful software company, where she applies her broad legal expertise across privacy, cybersecurity, employment, and contract law. With a strong background in governance and committee leadership, she brings a wealth of experience in navigating complex legal and regulatory landscapes.
Passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion, Sarah is dedicated to fostering safe and equitable spaces in education and the workplace. She actively advocates for gender equality, LGBTQIA+ rights and wellbeing, neurodiversity, and disability inclusion—issues that are deeply personal to her.
Beyond her professional and advocacy work, Sarah enjoys exploring the outdoors through hiking, capturing moments through photography, and immersing herself in books. She treasures time with her family and her lively menagerie of pets, embracing the balance between her career, advocacy, and personal passions.
Meahd has been a valued member of A Fairer World, bringing her extensive expertise in marketing and media to enhance the organisation’s impact. With a strong background in strategic communications, she has played a key role in shaping messaging, outreach, and engagement efforts.
As the former media lead at the Port Arthur Historic Site, Meahd managed high-profile campaigns, public relations, and storytelling initiatives that preserved and shared Tasmania’s rich history. She has also contributed her skills to Dunalley Tasman Neighbourhood House, supporting community-driven projects and strengthening local connections through effective communication strategies.
Passionate about using media to drive social change, Meahd is committed to fostering inclusive narratives and amplifying diverse voices. Her work reflects a deep dedication to community engagement, ensuring that important stories are told and heard in meaningful ways.
Vanessa is a dedicated committee member of A Fairer World, bringing 16 years of experience in senior governmental roles. As the former Chief of Staff to the Premier, she has developed significant expertise in communications, marketing, crisis management, policy development, and advocacy. With a strong background in both the public and private sectors, she has successfully led teams, guided strategy, overseen project implementation, and managed budgets.
Passionate about making a meaningful impact, Vanessa believes that education is a powerful tool for change—one that can transform lives and build more inclusive communities. Her leadership and strategic insight help drive initiatives that promote equity and social progress.
Beyond A Fairer World, Vanessa enjoys reading, exploring advancements in artificial intelligence, and practising Pilates. She values quality time with family and friends, embracing lifelong learning and personal growth in all aspects of her life.
Sarah is a passionate advocate and educational leader, dedicated to working with and for First Nations people—both in Australia and those who now call Australia home. With a career spanning the nonprofit and education sectors, she has worked extensively with community groups in Victoria and served as a teacher and volunteer with AUS Aid in the Solomon Islands.
For the past 25 years, Sarah has been a driving force in Aboriginal Education in lutruwita/Tasmania, leading initiatives that support First Nations students to improve their educational and social outcomes. Her work is deeply rooted in fostering connection, empowerment, and equity through culturally responsive education.
Believing in the power of learning, connection, and collective action to create positive social change, Sarah joined the management committee of A Fairer World to further her commitment to inclusivity, advocacy, and meaningful community impact.
