Stories, Understanding and Celebration at Westerway Primary School!

As part of our Diversity Matters, Everyone Matters program, students at Westerway Primary School explored the impact of stereotypes, inclusion and belonging through storytelling and creative expression.
One of the highlights was a powerful student-performed skit that examined how it feels to be ignored simply because you come from another country. Through empathy and performance, students shared an important message about respect, inclusion and making everyone feel welcome.

The learning journey culminated in a special celebration event where students received copies of their very own published book. Inspired by the stories they heard from the human ‘books’ in the Hobart Human Library, students reflected on diverse lived experiences and crafted narratives of their own, bringing their ideas and voices to life in print.

We are incredibly proud of the thoughtfulness, creativity and compassion shown by the students throughout the project. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this such a meaningful experience.
This project was proudly funded by the Tasmanian Community Fund.
