Back at Devonport High School!

Over two inspiring days, the A Fairer World team delivered the Hobart Human Library Inclusion Forums focused on storytelling to seven classes, working with 3 Grade 8 classes and 4 Grade 7 classes.

As part of our ongoing partnership with Devonport High School, which we visit every two years, students explored how stereotypes, discrimination and assumptions can impact individuals and communities.

Through listening to stories, participating in activities and spending time on reflection, students are changed by the event and walk away with practical tips on inclusion. Students said

  • “I won’t judge people so quickly”
  • “I will take a moment to consider that I don’t know the whole story“
  • “Believe people with disability and be curious”

Thank you to the staff and students for welcoming us back and for contributing so openly to these important conversations. We look forward to returning in the future!
